Compass Chiropractic Fights Identity Theft

We all know someone whose identity: "great parent", "loving spouse", "strong worker", or "forever-youthful athlete" has been stolen away and replaced with a new one: "headache sufferer", "low back pain victim", "carpal tunnel hostage", or "injured-shoulder drain on society". They have resigned themselves to their fate and feel no hope of having their original identity restored.

At Compass Chiropractic we fight identity theft daily. Patients are amazed when an incredibly thorough examination rapidly apprehends the causes of their condition - the figurative identity thieves. A plan is formed to correct each cause with the most advanced non-surgical, non-drug, condition-resolving treatments available.

For dysfunctional joints (132 joints in the spine alone) which often cause back pain, neck pain, headaches, and sciatica (pain down the leg) specific hands-on or instrument-assisted adjustments are used to restore normal motion and joint function . Patented, highly effective Active Release Techniques address scar tissue and nerve irritation which cause conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder pain, plantar fasciitis, and tennis elbow. Problem-specific exercises and stretches address the muscular causes of chronic low back pain and shoulder instability. Recommended off-the-shelf or custom orthotics address dysfunctional foot arches and resulting joint stress which cause foot, knee, hip, and low back pain.

We are pleased to say we frequently win the fight against identity theft. If you know someone whose identity has been stolen, please direct them to the identity theft experts at Compass Chiropractic.

A Story of Exceeded Expectations:

May 23, 2008

Compass Chiropractic has been a true delight for me. From the great cleanliness of the office to the sincere greeting and care I receive when I am there I highly recommend you check it out if you have not already.

I went to Compass Chiropractic with severe headaches and shoulder pain. Just after a couple of visits I started to notice the changes. Now my shoulder pain is completely gone and my headaches are diminishing quickly. My treatment was like no other that I had received at other Chiropractors over the years. The unique ART treatment made such a difference for me.

For a great chiropractic experience visit Compass Chiropractic.

Thank You!

The generous contributions of new and established patients during the month of May raised $1,300 for Special Olympics Iowa! Thank you for donating to this great Iowa organization. Also, thank you to all friends of Compass Chiropractic who helped spread the word about this fundraiser. We look forward to creating a similar winning situation for Variety of Iowa during the Variety Fundraiser taking place during June and July.

Draftlines Articles

Starting in June, Dr. David Krohse will have a monthly question and answer article in the Des Moines Cycle Club's Newsletter, Draftlines. The article will be titled Health Hub and will feature answers to cyclists questions on prevention and treatment of common cycling-related injuries.

Compass Chiropractic highly recommends joining the Des Moines Cycle Club. "The purpose of the club is to sponsor recreational cycling activities, encourage safe bicycling practices, promote bicyclists' rights as a transportation alternative and give interested cyclists an avenue into competitive racing. If you're new to this area or just new to bikes, or if you're a veteran tired of riding alone, an introduction to the Des Moines Cycle Club may be the best way for you to enhance your enjoyment of riding your bike."

Condition of the Month – Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Chiropractic and Active Release Techniques in combination provide some of the most impressive results when used to treat a very common and problematic condition, carpal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome is characterized by numbness, tingling, pain, and weakness in the hands and forearms.
The nerves that carry all messages from the brain to the arms and hands exit the spine in the lower neck. From there they pass between and sometimes through muscles on their way to the tips of the fingers. The nerves function somewhat like a hose coming out of a house. If someone steps on the hose next to the house, it will take even less pressure further out to completely cut off the flow of water. In the same way, if there is irritation of the nerves in the lower neck, it will take less irritation of the nerves further down the arms to result in symptoms in the hands and forearms. Nerves in the arms can be irritated if scar tissue between the layers of muscle is rubbing them, or if they are being pressed on by tight muscles.

At Compass Chiropractic, Dr. David Krohse starts with a very thorough history and examination to determine exactly where the nerves affecting the hands are being irritated. If spinal problems are a factor, they will be addressed with adjustments. If the nerves are being pinched or irritated by tight muscles or scar tissue in the arms, Active Release Techniques will be used to loosen up those spots. Results are often instantaneous when the problem areas are properly addressed. Patients are thrilled to return to symptom-free living without surgery and the risks that go with it. Dr. Krohse will recommend appropriate stretching for patients to maintain their improvement.
