Des Moines Hospitals

Compass Chiropractic is going well. We continue to see new patients thrilled to find out that there is an ART provider here in Des Moines.

Long term, one of the most exciting things is the proximity of Compass Chiropractic to the new Des Moines Hospitals. Both the Mercy Medical Center - West Lakes and the Michael R. Myers Medical Center by Iowa Health are just a couple blocks from Compass Chiropractic.

In other cities many surgeons send all their patients pre and post operation for Active Release Techniques. Our goal is to get such great results and build such a positive reputation that surgeons in this area choose to prioritize patient outcomes and refer their patients for ART as well.

A Note from Montreal

I'm in Montreal for the week taking an Active Release Techniques seminar. It's been great visiting a new city though I must admit the weather could be better - still in the teens with a foot of fresh snow on the ground here. I was a fool and didn't bring gloves or a stocking hat either as things were warm (relatively) in Des Moines when I left Compass Chiropractic.

As we walked back from dinner tonight we were approached by a homeless man with a sign asking for money for drugs and alcohol. His good sense of humor didn't get him anything but some smiles from us, but it reminded me of one of the most powerful newspaper articles that I have read recently. I found it very inspirational and actually printed it out for a patient I was working with out in Washington who had experienced a traumatic work injury and was not expecting a full recovery to his pre-injury life. Though it's long, it's well worth the read. Here it is:

Open House

Thanks to all who came out for the Compass Chiropractic Open House! As far as I could tell, a good time was had by all with good food, a little health education, digital foot scans, and more.

COMPASS CHIROPRACTIC OPEN HOUSE AND RIBBON CUTTING

An open house and ribbon cutting is scheduled for March 4 from 4 to 7 with ribbon cutting around 5:30. I'd love to see a lot of friendly faces out at Compass Chiropractic as we officially unveil the office. Compass Chiropractic is definitely feeling more complete lately - just a couple pieces of artwork left to put up. I just ordered a wall mounted rehab system that will assist me - especially in teaching patients appropriate shoulder injury exercises.

I added some other events to the calendar. I'll be giving a free health talk on Tuesday, February 19 on "Advanced Nonsurgical Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatment." It will be at Compass Chiropractic. We'll go over the causes of carpal tunnel syndrome, treatment options, and some preventive stretches in this approximately 45 minute talk.

Compass Chiropractic will also have a booth at the Natural Living Expo on March 1 at the fairgrounds. This event will be a great opportunity for interested Des Moines area residents to experience brief Active Release Techniques demonstration or go through a brief evaluation. We also look forward to meeting a number of other health conscious members of the Des Moines business community on that day.

Official Compass Chiropractic Images

Here are the first official images of the Compass Chiropractic exterior. The sign was a welcome addition this past week as some Des Moines chiropractic patients have had a tricky time getting here. There are still some finishing touches to take place inside before a virtual tour of the clinic is posted.

Calendar of Events

I just posted a Calendar of Events on the Compass Chiropractic website. These events are open to the public and are a great opportunity for you to meet me and learn more about Active Release Techniques or the other services we have available to people in the Des Moines area.

Of special note, I'd like to point out that the Have a Heart - Save a Heart Fundraiser for the American Heart Association has officially begun. This fundraiser gives you or a loved one or friend the perfect opportunity to learn more about their condition and the options for care available at Compass Chiropractic while bettering the health of our community at the same time. If you know someone who has been putting up with headaches, back pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, or a host of other conditions encourage them to schedule a new patient appointment as a part of the Have a Heart Fundraiser.

Compass Chiropractic now serving Des Moines

Compass Chiropractic opened Monday, January 21st. We're still waiting for a variety of things to arrive (waiting room chairs, the ultimate adjusting table, desks, the sign...) but the doors are open and Des Moines area patients are now receiving chiropractic and Active Release Techniques care.

The Des Moines Register has been great in helping to spread the word on the new practice. The articles also discuss our first significant contribution to the Des Moines community:

During the month of February, any new patient who donates $25 or more to the Des Moines chapter of the American Heart Association will receive their first visit (exam and any necessary X-rays) at no charge. This is a fantastic opportunity to find out if chiropractic and/or Active Release Techniques can help your headaches, back pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, and other complaints you may be having.

We look forward to making many more positive contributions to the community as a whole in the future.
