Continuing Education in Las Vegas & Orange County

Dr. Krohse will be out of the office from 4:00 on Wednesday, March 21 through Friday March 23 for an Active Release Techniques Active Palpation Seminar in Las Vegas. Jeanne will still be available to answer questions and schedule as needed. The following weekend Dr. Krohse will be training in FAKTR, a cutting edge soft tissue and rehabilitation treatment that should be a great additional tool to resolve the most stubborn conditions. That seminar will not disrupt our usual work schedule.

Iowa Outdoor Unlimited members enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. We welcome anyone who enjoys the outdoors and encourage new members to share their favorite outdoor passion with other club members. IOU especially fills the following roles for Des Moines and Central Iowa:

Des Moines Hiking Club

IOU members organize a number of local and mountain-state hikes for Des Moines hiking enthusiasts. Local club hikes have included Ledges State Park, Backbone State Park, and the Loess Hills as well as in-town hikes at Brown's Woods and Grays Lake. Out-of-State club hiking trips have recently included Glacier National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Devil's Lake Wisconsin State Park. Join us and enjoy IOU as the premier Des Moines Hiking Club.

Des Moines Ski Club

Des Moines skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts will find great friends and opportunities in IOU. Our members make annual trips to Summit County, Colorado as well as a number of weekend outings to Seven Oaks near Boone and Welch Village in Minnesota. Additionally, we have a group of cross country skiing and snowshoeing enthusiasts among us, and take advantage of the local groomed trails. Hit the powder with IOU, your Des Moines Ski Club!

Des Moines Camping Club

Do you love to camp, but wish you had some friends to go with? Join us on camping trips around Des Moines and the country. We take advantage of local campgrounds at parks such as Jester Park and Ledges State Park. We also enjoy camping trips to Northeast Iowa, Western Iowa, the Boundary Waters, and the mountain states. Some trips are car and tent camping featuring deluxe Dutch oven potlucks while others are true backcountry experiences. Don't have any gear? Our members often can share and help you pick up the basics. Make IOU your Des Moines Camping Club.

Des Moines Canoe & Kayak Club

Love life on the water? Join us on a canoe or kayak adventure! We have been taking yearly canoe, kayak, and tubing trips on the Des Moines, Raccoon, and Iowa Rivers. Members also make at least one annual pilgrimage to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota. We also have some paddle board enthusiasts. Des Moines canoe and kayak enthusiasts can enjoy our water trails with IOU!

Des Moines Cycle Club

Many of our members enjoy getting around on two wheels! Some club rides are leisurely 10-15 mile cruises on local paved trails with time planned to hang out at great bicycle bars such as the Cumming Tap, El Bait Shop, and Latitude 41 floating restaurant on Saylorville Reservoir. Other club bicycle outings are a bit more intense featuring mountain biking at local hotspots such as Denman's Woods, the Center Trails, and the Sycamore Trail. Our club also participates in Ragbrai, Fat Tire Rides, and Urban Assault. Cyclists of all levels and interests will find appropriate rides when they let IOU fill the role of your Des Moines Cycling Club.

Des Moines Conservation Club

We love the outdoors, and we try to take care of what we love. Our members participate in river cleanups and invasive plant removal days. Some members also bring outdoor education to our club through plant and bird identification and photography.
