Run to Cure Cancer Fundraiser

In 2012 local ultra-runner and new Team Compass Chiropractic member Steve Cannon will again Run To Cure Cancer. The run will raise awareness, money and HOPE for The Lance Armstrong Foundation and all those fighting cancer. Last year, Steve ran 11 consecutive marathons to cross Iowa by foot. This year, Steve is attempting to be the first person to RUN around Lake Michigan. Take time to learn more at his site, get involved, and then share it with everyone!! WHAT YOU DO TODAY CHANGES SOMEONE'S TOMORROW.

Through April 30, any new patient who donates $50 or more to The Run to Cure Cancer will receive a complementary first visit (exam, any needed spinal X-rays, and mechanical table massage up to $300 value).

Check the testimonial below!

Just wanted to drop you a line thanking you so much for last night's workshop. I incorporated the simple techniques into my run tonight and I ran faster than I ever have, had more energy at the end - never ended up feeling winded or tired and actually felt like I could have gone another couple of miles - and my knees didn't hurt and aren't hurting now at all! Thank you so much. I'm thrilled and looking forward to my long run this Saturday to see what a difference it makes there.

Serenity Buckwheat & Millet Pillows

We are thrilled to now carry Buckwheat & Millet Pillows by Serenity Pillows! Dreams come swiftly when you are resting on these organic pillows. We plan to stock the Priya millet pillow which is geared toward people who sleep on their sides and back. We'll also stock the Rejuvenation Pillows which are geared to side sleepers and have them available in Millet and Buckwheat. Learn more at Serenity's website or stop by our office to feel these unique, pain-decreasing pillows.

For the last three years we've sold three types of pillows, but unfortunately none felt right to me. We have had patients purchase and love all of our current pillows. However, I was personally using a pillow from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I love the Priya millet pillow that I've been using for the last two weeks! My neck and upper back feel better and my sleep quality is improved. I'm excited to have a line of pillows available here that I can confidently recommend! - Dr. Krohse

Jeanne recommends Zombie Burger!!!!

It's the "Deadest Place" in the East village!! And I love it!!!! When you go take your time... there is so much going on and the menu is worth a full read!! The humor and clever play on words keeps you entertained and makes choosing a sandwich a real decision! The "choices" are not in what goes on your sandwich, but what goes in your sandwich. There are 4 "meats" to choose from. The sandwiches themselves are each aptly named and full of surprises!! The buns are from George's talented bread bakers and they do not disappoint!! Not only do they have the menu set up from a different perspective the whole restaurant experience is fresh! You can either enter the left side and get your order to go/sit at a table/ or on the patio weather permitting or you can enter the right side and do the whole bar/ order from the table thing. Either way, the food is phenomenal and the service is stellar! Customer service is far from "dead & gone " in this place.

My personal favorite choices are the "double tap" Planet Terror with a fry basket of sweet potato fries(gotta have the dipping sauce too!) and a MUST HAVE Zombie Bride's Wedding Cake Shake!!!! It's like drinking wedding cake thru a straw!!!!! AMAZING!!!! There are so many items there that I want to try!! And we never get tired of the fun that is had by all everytime we go there! Thank you Des Moines for supporting our local talent in the culinary arts!! See.... Art can be Fun!!

Sandy recommends Blue Ribbon Pet Salon

As an owner of three very loving and (slightly) spoiled dogs, ensuring their ongoing good health and grooming is important. My family has enjoyed a very happy, long-term relationship with Blue Ribbon Pet Salon, in Clive. The salon is professional, reliable and they treat our dogs like family. And just like humans, dogs can have spinal issues, too. My 9-year-old dog, Amber, has a herniated disc in her spine, and her groomer, Melinda, takes great care with her and gives her gentle, loving care. There's nothing quite like picking the dogs up when they look and smell fresh from a bath and grooming. Check out Blue Ribbon Pet Salon at 1800 NW 86th Street in Clive.

Peter recommends Explosions in the Sky

My recommendation for the month of February would have to be a musical artist. I have always liked this group ever since I discovered them in the movie "Friday Night Lights." The group of musicians I recommend listening to is Explosions In the Sky. They are from Texas, and there is nothing comparable to an acoustic band from Texas! Their songs consists of guitars, drums, but no vocals, which makes it all the better. The top two songs I would recommend giving a listen to on itunes would be "Your Hand In Mine," and "A Song For Our Fathers." I always put them on when I clean around the house or study. Give them a listen and I bet you will be motivated enough to start cleaning your house!
Dr. Krohse recommends becoming a Body Rocker

You've seen the results your friends achieve through Cross Fit, Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping, and Goals in Motion! Sadly though, you may travel for work or don't have kid coverage for six workouts per week at one of these great gyms. You've considered purchasing P90X or Insanity DVD's but just haven't shelled out the cash yet. If this describes you, becoming a Body Rocker may be the perfect solution. I learned about this free online High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) program from an airline pilot who maintained a fantastic physique while traveling all over the world. The internet, his body weight, and motivating coaching by the incredibly ripped Zuzana were the main items needed to keep his body rocking. Check out success stories here and get started at this page!
