Condition of the Month – Athletic & Running Injuries

Through our Pain-Free & Efficient Running Workshops, we hope to reduce injuries in area runners. Most common running conditions include plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, knee pain, hip pain, low back pain, and sciatica. However, if one of these injuries does develop, we are thrilled to share that we have the gold-standard treatment to address them, Active Release Techniques. Read this Runner’s World article to learn more. Read what runners are writing on the Runner’s World Forums.

A Story of Exceeded Expectations

I went to Dr. Krohse when I saw that he performs ART, after I had read about ART. I thought that treatment might help me. I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis since 2004. I am a former collegiate distance runner and try to still enjoy running. It is hard to enjoy the great sport of running when you have something hurting you each step. I had tried acupuncture, physical therapy, shoe inserts, and cortisone shots. So, you could say I’ve tried about everything to get healthy.

Dr. Krohse did a thorough job of evaluating my posture and my feet. After each treatment, I felt my feet getting better. After two weeks of treatment, I was running pain free for the first time in 5 years. I know at times the scar tissue will build up and it will be painful but I know Dr. Krohse will be able to use his techniques with ART to get me back running. I would recommend ART to my athletes that I train and to any athlete who has pain that would benefit from this treatment.

iPod Nano Drawing for Patients who write a Testimonial

It can be scary to choose a chiropractor out of a phone book! For that reason, many people in pain search the internet looking for a provider that they can feel confident choosing. Most of all, these people would love to see a story of someone else who was dealing with something similar who had great results.

During the month of April, write a testimonial about your experience at Compass Chiropractic and we’ll put your name in a drawing for an Ipod Nano – a $130 value! Download the testimonial sheet here. It will only take a few minutes, you may win a Nano, and you’ll help us out tremendously.

Valley Junction Farmer’s Market

Compass Chiropractic will be performing spinal screenings this summer at the Valley Junction Farmer’s Market. This exciting event takes place every Thursday starting May 6 and is a veritable cornucopia of food, fun, and music. Bring your friends and family out to the Farmer’s Market and stop by and say hello!

Open House and Silent Auction

Our office will be hosting an Open House and Silent Auction in late May to benefit Dr. Krohse’s Team in Training fund for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We will be contacting many businesses requesting items to be included in the auction. We would also welcome any door prizes from business owners or professionals interested in recognition at our event. Please contact us if you are able to contribute a silent auction item or door prize.

A Website – www.hungrygirl.com

Check out Hungry Girl at http://www.hungrygirl.com/. While I don't agree with everything she recommends, she has some great tips for nutrition, fun facts, and provides you with the latest news about nutrition regulations and calorie postings at your favorite restaurants. Sign up for her daily emails and she will also send a healthy swap recipe for some of your favorites, including Jalapeno Poppers, Buffalo Chicken Dip, Crab Rangoons, and much more. Do, however, be on the look out for suggestions of highly processed foods masquerading as low calorie, healthy options. Hungry Girl has helped me think twice about my food decisions and hopefully can help you, too!
